With the Distance Map API you can:
- Generate polygons of everywhere reachable within a set road distance
- Set any distance from 75 metres to 800 kilometres
- Combine distance catchments with unions and intersections in a single request
- Export shapes as GeoJSON, WKT, KML or bounding boxes
- Run unlimited requests on a fixed annual price, with no per-call charge
What the Distance Map API returns
The TravelTime Distance Map API returns a polygon covering everywhere reachable from a location within a maximum travel distance. Distances follow the road network along the fastest journeys, not straight lines.
Shapes can be returned as JSON, GeoJSON, WKT, KML or bounding boxes.

A distance map, also called an isodistance, is a polygon showing everywhere reachable from a location within a set travel distance along the road network.
An isochrone shows everywhere reachable within a set travel time. A distance map shows everywhere reachable within a set travel distance. Use distance when your rules, pricing or standards are defined in kilometres or miles.
A radius measures straight-line distance and ignores roads, rivers and other barriers. A distance map follows the real network, so it shows where people can actually reach.
Along the road network, following the fastest journeys. Results reflect the distance people actually travel on the routes they'd take, rather than the shortest possible path.
Yes. Define up to 10 unions and 10 intersections per request to find areas within reach of any, or all, of your locations.
JSON, GeoJSON, WKT, WKT without holes, KML and bounding boxes. GeoJSON and KML load directly into QGIS and ArcGIS, and WKT suits databases and warehouses.
A fixed annual price with unlimited requests, rather than per call, so cost is known before you build and doesn't grow with usage.
